How Harvey Elliot has helped Liverpool this season

As of now, Liverpool has many problems with the team. Salah is not in great form. The new signing Darwin Nunez has not made any impact. They rely on Firmino whom Klopp brings Nunez to replace.  Van Dijk is not on the same level. In this struggling phase, they have found Harvey Elliot who has the potential to be a future Liverpool legend.

Liverpool is one of the best teams and under Jurgen Klopp’s supervision, it is the only team in the English Premier League which stands toe to toe with Manchester City for the title. They also won UEFA Champions League in 2019 with almost the same team. Who can forget that amazing comeback against Barcelona in UCL, where they come back from 3-0 down in the first leg to 4-0 up in the second one. They also reach the final of the champions league against Real Madrid last season which they lost. 

Current Crisis in Liverpool

Liverpool is not one of the greatest teams in the PL this season. Currently, they are standing in the middle of the league table but they performed really well in the group stages of the Champions League. All this started when Sadio Mane left Liverpool for Bayern. Because after this transfer Liverpool is not that effective or competitive. They lost to a struggling Manchester United side, Arsenal also beat them. They really have a midfield problem. As the fans were asking them to sign a midfielder during previous transfer window. They have Thiago, Milner, and Henderson, the key players in midfield who took their side all the way to Champions League glory in 2019. But they are now in their 30s and unlike Modric, they are not able to perform at the same level. Fabinho and Chamberlain are 29. So Liverpool is in desperate need to solve their midfield problem. 

Role of Harvey Elliot

In modern football players like Harvey Elliot are required. He has healthy arrogance and is very versatile. He can play really well as a number 8 in 4-3-3 as he was playing in Blackburn. But he can also play as number 10 with the current Liverpool lineup. He can also drift the attack from the right side. Salah has pace but to use it Liverpool needs a midfielder that can find him and time the pass to create chances Harvey Elliot can do it and Trent Alexander Arnold can also assist him in doing so. Elliot can also score goals so he can be a vital player.

In modern football, the managers make a combination of youngsters’ pace and veterans’ experience. Although Elliot does not have the pace of Mo Salah, he can find the forwards by exploiting the defense line of opponents. Also with the signing of Fabio Carvalho, the competition for Elliot is even greater now. But Klopp should give Elliot time and believe in him that he is the right man for the job.
