Denmark VS Tunisia – WC Match #6
The first match of group D was between Denmark and Tunisia. It was the second game of the day after the game between Argentina and Saudi Arabia, in which KSA shocked Argentina and well as the whole world by winning the game. Both teams played a good game which ended 0-0. Both managed to get a point. Denmark was left frustrated by Tunisia. Despite the result, it was a really competitive game.
Eriksen’s Masterclass
Denmark’s first half was not a dream start but they were good in the second period. Cristian Eriksen made his major international tournament comeback after 18 months. He was ruled out due to cardiac arrest at Euro 2020. Christian was running the show for Denmark. He became the player to create the most goal-scoring chances in this year’s world cup. Eriksen’s could-be amazing goal was denied. Cornelius hit the post from a yard only, this was the best chance for the Danes to take the lead. Then Olsen found the bottom corner in the second half but his goal was disallowed by VAR. In injury time Danes wanted a penalty but the referee after monitoring it on the VAR monitor did not award it.
Man of the Match
Aissa Laidouni set the tone of the game from the start whistle to the end. He really performed athletically and won the Man of the Match award. The Ferencvaros player won five of his six aerial duels and succeeded in his two tackles. He also recovered eight balls, the best total of his team and the second-best total of the meeting behind Andreas Christensen. Tunisia impressed in the first half with their aggressive style. They really pushed Denmark into a draw. However, Denmark didn’t adopt their aggressive style. Issam Jebali’s goal was ruled out as he was offside. But their overall play was better and forced Denmark to win a point.
