Uruguay VS South Korea – WC Match #14

uruguay-korea

Group H’s first match kicked off between two well-matched talented teams Uruguay and South Korea. Both teams have quality players and the game could have gone anyway. But there was nothing to split these sides. The final score was a draw and both teams took a point home. Let’s see what happens in the next group H match as Portugal will play against Ghana. And both have a chance to claim the first position at the top of the group table.

Game Breakdown

South Korea started the game by keeping possession and forcing Uruguay to make mistakes. They took 7 shots from which none of them was on target. In the final three, they were losing the ball. After 20 minutes Koreans were not able to control the game anymore. But they were lucky and did well to defend their goal and won a point. Their best chances were when Ui-Jo was unmarked in the Uruguayan box but he fired the ball high. And in the end minutes, Son shot the ball wide.

Uruguay can prove to be the dark horse of this world cup. Uruguay changed the possession game after 20 minutes of play. They attempted 10 shots from which only one was on target. They were looking to win the game, they came close to scoring two times. but it was not enough. Diego Godin’s hit the post just before halftime. And in the last moments of the match, Fede Valverde tried to win the game for Uruguay and attempted a shot from distance but it also hit the goalpost.

Man of the match

Fede Valverde should win the match of the match award as he did well and almost scored a rasping goal but was unlucky as he could only hit the woodwork. He contributed in defense also so he is the one who should win that award.

Both teams have got 1 point each. Now the next match of group H will decide who will sit on top of the table.
