Lewandowski Gets His First Ever WC Goal As Poland Beats KSA
Poland and Saudi Arabia of group C clashed today. Both teams have good squads and after beating Argentina in the first game, Saudi Arabia was looking to steal the game yet again. But it was Poland who get better than KSA and scored twice to win all three points home. Saudi Arabia had a chance to book its place in the round of 16 but it failed.
Another Good Performance
Saudi started the game pretty well. The confidence was the same as in the last match. They looked to score the goals and win the game. KSA attempted a total of 16 shots out of which 5 were on target. A great performance yet again but not good enough to get through Poland. They didn’t allow Polland to breathe today. Only if they were great in finishing in the Poland box they could have grabbed the win. Poland managed to score in the 39th minute of the first half. KSA had a chance just after 5 minutes. Saudi Arabia won the penalty after Bialek’s foul on Al-Shehri. It could have been 1-1 but Aldawsari missed the penalty. Then in the 82nd minute, Poland scored again and after that, the game was pretty much theirs. Despite the result, KSA was the better team today.
Poland remained in the shadow of KSA the whole game. They were fortunate enough to score twice. Zielinski finished the scoring after a good assist from Lewandowski to score the first goal. Then Szczesny saved the penalty and keep them in the game. In the 82nd minute, Lewandowski scored his first world cup goal to double Poland’s lead. Poland attempted 9 shots out of which 3 were on target.Â
Man of the match
The Juventus goalkeeper Wojciech Szczęsny deserved to be the man of the match as It was he who made great saves and allowed Poland to win the game.
Now after beating KSA, Poland is on top of the group table and Saudi Arabia sits in second. After the other game in the group, things will get interesting as Saudi Arabia has lost the game.
