Morocco Stuns Belgium in Another Upset
In another upset in the tournament, Morocco beat the second-ranked team in men’s football Belgium to remain in the round-of-16 fights. It was a good game in Group F with both sets of crowds backing their teams. Morocco draw with Croatia in their first match, so they needed to win this game and they did so. Both teams were well-matched but the defensive play Belgium didn’t work this time. Meanwhile, the offensive play of Morroco was the reason they beat a talented Belgium side.Â
Morocco controlled the game
Belgium started the game with possession. The game went on and on and just before halftime, Morocco hit the net. But Belgium was saved as after the VAR review Saiss was caught offside. So an amazing goal from Chelsea winger Hakim Ziyech was disallowed. It was a warning for Belgium. Belgium then conceded two goals and was unable to find the score sheet.
What a win for Morocco. The disallowed goal from Ziyech was the turning point of the match. They didn’t lose hope and it gave them the confidence that they can do it. In the 73rd minute, Saiss opened the scoring. Sabiri assisted him pretty well from a free kick. Just before the final whistle, Morocco scored again to seal the deal. This time Aboukhlal finds the net. Ziyech cut back and passed the ball to Aboukhlal who fired the ball into the net above Courtois.Â
Man of the match
A man of the match performance was shown by Chelsea’s winger Hakim Ziyech. He was everywhere on the pitch, also assisted one goal, and scored a goal that was disallowed later. He and Hakimi are unstoppable when they are in this kind of form and Morocco can rely on them.Â
Now group F is getting interesting. The final two will be decided on the last day of group F matches. Let’s see if Croatia, Belgium, and Morocco compete as there are only two spots and everybody wants it.Â
