Croatia thrashed Canada by 4-1

In Group F, the last world cup finalist Croatia played against Canada. Despite scoring the first goal Canada lost the game, Croatia thrashed them 4-1. Croatia will now sit at the top position of Group F as Morocco shocked Belgium earlier tonight.

A Good Start

Canada started the game pretty well. They scored in the 2nd minute of the match. Alphonso Davies scored a wonder full header past Livakovic to give his side the early lead. But at 36 minutes, Croatia leveled the match. After eight minutes Canada conceded another goal. Then it was all about Croatia they scored twice in the 2nd period to take all the points home. 

Croatia’s Reply

The early goal for Canada raised a lot of questions, but Croatia changed the course of the match well. They took the lead before halftime and then scored twice in the 2nd half. Modric and Kovacic exploited the Canadian defense well. Kramaric opened the scoring for Croatia and leveled the scoring at 36 minutes. Perisic pass from the left area to meet Kramaric and he finished with confidence. Then Livaja gave Croatia the lead by scoring in the 44th minute. It was a cool finish from him and a great effort from Juranovic as he splits the legs of the defender to get the ball to Livaja.

In the second half, 1 hour and 10 minutes from the starting whistle Croatia again found the net. This time Kramaric fired the ball into the bottom corner after another amazing assist from Perisic. As if three goals were not enough, Croatia scored again in the stoppage time, an easy finish for Majer as Miller let both Orsic and Majer combine after his mistake. 

Man of the match

Great performances from Modric, Perisic, Kovacic, Orsic, Majer, Kramaric, and Livaja. But the man of the match should be given to the man who scored a brace, Andrej Kramarić who was amazing today. He didn’t let his team down and played with confidence despite conceding a goal in the 2nd minute. 

Now let’s see what happens on the final day. But for now, Croatia, Belgium, and Morocco all have a pretty good chance to make it to the round of 16.
