Netherlands 3-1 USA – Dutch Progress To Next Round

The round of 16 kicks up as the USA played against the Netherlands. A good game of passion and agility but the USA will go back home. They did well but the Dutch side was better. The Netherlands won 3-1 against the USA and will go to the next stage of the tournament.

Game Breakdown

The USA conceded in the first have twice. It was 24 minutes before the end of the game that they entered the game again. In spite of playing really well, they weren’t able to come back after another Dutch goal put them under pressure. They attempted 17 shots of which 8 were on target. In the end, they had to score so the organized USA team was not so organized after all.

The Netherlands started the game really well, quite similar to the game against Senegal. They scored in the 10th minute of the match. It was a team goal as the dutch took the ball. Depay received the ball from Dumfries and fired it in the bottom corner. Then just before halftime, they doubled their lead. This time Dumfries cut the ball back for Blind who finds the bottom corner. It’s the 2nd assist of Dumfries. In 2nd half, the dutch conceded a goal but did well to score another just after 5 minutes. The 2nd goal duo scored the 3rd goal again but this time Dumfries finished the ball received from Blind. After that, they did firm defending till the last minute. 

Man of the match

Denzel Dumfries won the man of the match award as he was involved in all three goals. He scored an amazing goal and assisted 2. He ran the show for the Netherlands tonight. 

The Netherlands will go to the next stage. Now they will wait for the next match to find out who they will face in the Quater finals.
