South Korea Qualifies After Last-Minute Winner Against Portugal

South Korea made a huge comeback against Portugal to eliminate Uruguay and book their place in the round of 16. It was so much emotional night for Koreans. They scored at the last moment of the game, then had to wait for Uruguay vs Ghana game to end. Uruguay defeated ghana by 2-0 and was equal on points with Korea, but due to more goals scored, Korea proceed to the round of 16. Portugal was good with the ball but nor able to score goals as South Korea was well organized.

South Korea gave it all

South Korea did well to counter the match, they were good with counter-attacks. They started the game on the back foot. As they concede a goal in the 5th minute. Then in the 27th minute Kim Young-Gwon scored the volley as Ronaldo was unable to clear the ball. The game went on and on until in the 91st minute they scored again. Hwang Hee-chan scored the winner as Son made a huge opportunity to assist him. They also took 13 shots out of which 6 were on target. This goal earned him the man of the match award too.

Nothing changed For Portugal

Portugal started the game well as in the 5th minute they were able to take the lead. Ricardo Horta and Dalot combined. Dalot finds Horta on the far side and fired the cross. Horta shoot first-time and found the net. But in the middle of the first half Portugal gave the lead away as they were not able to defend the corner. Then in the stoppage time, they scored another. This will not affect Portugal’s journey as they were already qualified for the next stage. They attempted 13 shots out of which 6 were on target. But they should do something about their finishing as they lack the quality there.

Portugal and South Korea will go forward from this group. Korea will face Brazil while Portugal will face Switzerland in the round of 16. Let’s see what happens in the world cup as the final day in group H was very emotional for Uruguay.
