France and Poland clashed today for the quarter-finals qualification. France beat Poland 3-1, a deserved victory for France as they will go to the next stage of the tournament.

Record Breaking French side

France did well as they start the game with high pressing. They keep the possession and were good in the midfield. Just before halftime, Oliver Giroud scored to give France the lead and become the all-time top scorer in France’s history. Giroud surpassed Thiery Henry’s record of 51 goals.

Another record was created after that as Kylian Mbappe smashed the ball across the goalkeeper to create history as he has the most goals for France now. Mbappe doubled France’s lead, and Dembele feed the ball to him. Mbappe scored again in the 1st minute of stoppage time to seal the deal. This time Thuram did well to assist the starman. They did concede a goal in the last minute but that was just a consultation goal for Poland.

Helpless Poland

Poland was better in today’s match as they were really poor in their meeting with Argentina. They had to take the ball front but this France team was firm and keep putting pressure on Poland. Poland conceded a goal in the First half and two in the second. They attempted 12 shots of which 3 were in the target. In the last minute of the match, Poland won a penalty. Lewandowski’s first attempt was not up to mark but as Lloris was not on the goal line so the Penalty was taken again. This time Lewandowski scored.

man of the match

PSG striker is the one to win the man of the match award. He was involved in all three of France’s goals scored today. If Mbappe is playing then you cannot keep him out. Giroud is now the player who has scored the most goals for France but Mbappe is in the race and by the looks of it it seems like Giroud’s record will not stay for a long time.

Poland has to learn from their mistakes and come back stronger. Maybe this was Lewandowski’s last world cup but let’s see what happens. France will wait for the next match to see whether they will face England or Senegal.
